Cycling With Nature
Why do we feel so disconnected from our selves and from the natural world? I observe this dissonance within myself and others all the time. It feels like there is something missing and in it’s place is a great longing that cannot be filled with material stuff. In my observations there is a natural way of things that has been compromised by modernity. A simplicity of eating when you’re hungry, sleeping when you’re tired, spending quality time with loved ones, making things with your hands and observing the natural rhythms of life. We have built walls around ourselves and shut ourselves off. About 20 years ago when I first started practicing yoga I became aware of just how disconnected and shut off I’d become. I was so used to living by an external clock and other peoples schedules I didn’t even know what I was feeling anymore. I had no idea who I was. I think this existential crisis that I experienced is a common one and is the catalysis that transforms many people into seekers. What is our true nature? What does it feel like to live in harmony with the natural world?
